Hún er með BA próf í heimspeki frá Háskóla Íslands, M.Phil í samfélagslegu réttæti frá Stirling háskóla í Skotlandi og doktorspróf í heimspeki frá Calgary háskóla í Kanada. Hún hefur verið forstöðumaður Siðfræðistofnunar Háskóla Íslands og lektor í heimspeki við sama skóla. Salvör tók við embættinu 1. júlí 2017 og var endurskipuð til fimm ára þann 1. júlí 2022.

She has a BA degree in philosophy from the University of Iceland, an M.Phil in social justice from the University of Stirling in Scotland and a PhD in philosophy from the University of Calgary in Canada. She has been the director of the Institute of Ethics at the University of Iceland and a lecturer in philosophy at the same school. Salvör assumed the position on July 1, 2017 and was reappointed for a five-year term on July 1, 2022.
